As I watched the storm in my back yard from the sliding glass doors, I wanted to write down the scenes from Hurricane Irene. It’s a bit of a mess out there!
One lone bird wobbles sideways in flight–
Glad to see what it couldn’t last night.
One lone tree, horizontal and torn,
Sorry friends hover over and mourn.
One lone wind lifts the leaves from their crown–
Rain reacts, dashes all of them down.
One lone storm tosses earth to the sky,
Threatens us, “You are all going to die!”
One lone soul Singing “Goodnight Irene”,
Bids farewell to a terrible scene.
