It’s Harvest Time

What does God’s harvest time look like?

I want to look at harvest time in two perspectives:

  1. The harvest of souls
  2. The harvest of Israel

I’ve shared repeatedly on the harvest of souls in this blog, citing Joel 3:13-16:

13 Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe.
Come, tread, for the wine press is full;
The vats overflow, for their wickedness is great.
14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision!
For the day of the LORD is near in the valley ofdecision.

As Christians lift up the cross of Jesus Christ before the
multitudes in the Valley of Decision, the Holy Spirit “works the crowd” and
brings in a great harvest.  Our part is to
God will show up and judge the nations (all people) in this Valley of
Decision (see verse 12).

Genesis 1:14 tells us God created the lights in the sky for SEASONS.  Look what the lights in the sky do to mark this season of the Lord:

“But immediately after the tribulation of those days THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED, AND THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT, AND THE STARS WILL FALL from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see  the SON OF MAN COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF THE SKY with power and great glory (Matthew 24:29 – 31).

You and I MUST overcome in this commission to evangelize and LIFT UP THE CROSS, for the great harvest that is coming.  Jesus said in Revelation 22, “Behold, I am coming soon!  My reward is with me and I will give to every person according to what he/she has done.”

OUR FUTURE:  (Rev. 22)  Jesus said, “Blessed are those who wash their robes that they may have the RIGHT to the Tree of Life and may go through the gates of the city. . .  To him who overcomes I will give the right to eat from the Tree of Life which is in the Paradise of God.”

WE NEED TO BRING THE LOST INTO OUR FUTURE WITH CHRIST!!  But truly, this work is a seasonal work.  It is a movement of God, not something we can
cook up or drum up.  But we can take ACTION NOW.  You’ve read the details of families who
are lifting up the cross of Jesus, and I will share more to come.  This is not a small thing.  This is HUGE.
Wear the cross jewelry.  Tack up a cross on your property.  Make cross crafts with your children.  This is our part.  Obey God in whatever He tells you to do. (Not
too hard, is it?  We don’t want to make it harder than it is.)

Isaiah 51 shows that when God shows up, He brings:

Isaiah 51 shows that when God shows up, the people respond with:

Pay attention to this, because these are signs that point to harvest time.

Prayer:  “Father in heaven, please open our minds to understand what your Holy Spirit is saying to the churches in this season.”

What will that end time harvest look like?

First, God will bring Israel back to her home land.  That’s happening now, even this year,  there more and more Jews are returning to Israel.  Amos 9: 8- 15 gives us some of the progression of this movement and the harvest for Israel:

  1. God destroys the sinful kingdoms, but doesn’t totally destroy “the house of Jacob”
  2. He shakes the house of Israel (picture a child shaking sand at the beach in a sieve to get to the seashells he wants to take home)
  3. Proud sinners will die
  4. The Fallen Tabernacle of David will be restored from ruins and broken places repaired (more on this later)
  5. Edom will be conquered and possessed by Israel (more on this later)

SO MUCH HARVEST!!  They’ll still be harvesting last year’s fruit when it’s time to plant again!  Harvest season bumps into planting season.

I heard an 81-year-old saint preach two weeks ago about the end times.  His words RING in me:

“We are headed to the MOST wicked generation on the face of the earth.

We are headed to the MOST righteous generation on the face of the earth.”

It’s true.  Jesus gave us a parable to explain this to us.

The Parable of the Tares and the Wheat:

Tares among Wheat

Jesus presented another parable to them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven [m]may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25 But while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed [n]tares among the wheat, and went away. 26
But when the [o]wheat sprouted and bore grain, then the  tares became evident also. 27 The slaves of the landowner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? [p]How then does it have tares?’ 28
And he said to them, ‘An [q]enemy has done this!’ The slaves *said to
him, ‘Do you want us, then, to go and gather them up?’ 29 But he
*said, ‘No; for while you are gathering up the tares, you may uproot the wheat
with them. 30 Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and in
the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather up the tares
and bind them in bundles to burn them up; but gather the wheat into my barn.”’”

Brothers and Sisters, do not grow weary in planting
seeds!  Harvest is coming!  We will “doubtless come back through this
same field, carrying the harvest with us!!”

 The Reapers
Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and sitting on the cloud was one like [l]a son of man, having a golden crown on His head and a sharp sickle in His hand. 15
And another angel came out of the [m]temple, crying out with a loud voice to Him
who sat on the cloud, “[n]Put in your sickle and reap, for the hour to
reap has come, because the harvest of the earth [o]is ripe.” 16 Then He who sat on
the cloud [p]swung His sickle over the earth, and the
earth was reaped.

HARVEST TIME—the wicked are gathered up with the righteous and God’s work on earth is reaped, for the better or for the worse.  God has sown countless seeds of love, mercy,
and righteousness into this earth.  I leave you to think upon the words he told John as recorded for us in Revelation 22:

“Behold, I am coming
quickly, and My reward is with
Me, to render to every man [g]according to what he has done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last,
the beginning and the end.”

14 Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of
life, and may enter by the gates into the city. 15 Outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.

16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things [h]for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.”

17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the
one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without

About Lift the Cross of Jesus!

My day job is writing--I'm an author and publisher of a number of books. More on that later. But there is nothing of greater importance to me than the early morning hours I spend with the Creator of the Universe. Although He knows everything there is to know, His greatest delight isn't to give us knowledge, but to give us love. My highest joy is to watch the sun rise with notebook in hand and write the words he speaks to my heart. I want to share some of those words with you here . . . words on the cross.
