One Day We Will Fly

Forgive me, Lord, for discontent   woman prays looking out window B & W

With gravity that keeps me bent,

I want to know just where you went

And when we will unite?

For all creation groans with me

Despairs its mediocrity

And like your children, longs to be

Detached and in full flight.

Our thorns will fall off as we fly,   doveFlying-1

Those left on earth will wonder why

The light and dark crash in the sky?

That hour when we unite.

My God, this nation’s voted in

New laws and people bent on sin.

Some thumb their nose at You and grin–

Deceived that dark is light.

I know you have no choice but one–

To judge the world for what it’s done.

Remember those who kiss the Son?

Who chose to do what’s right?

Wait, Lord! I HAVE to intercede.    thumbnail harvest

I’m clinging to the cross–I plead–

Oh, help us harvest holy seed!

Prepare them robes of white.

Come discipline your children, Lord,

And grab the ones who say they’re bored

And teach us all to wield your sword

Prepare us for your fight.

We know the world is near the end–

The eastern sky will split and rend.

Oh, make your peace with God, my friend!

The thief comes in the night!

Please share this with friends of like mind–encourage the hearts of those who fear.  I trust you are well, and that you are leaning in to hear God’s voice in these last days. Listen for his voice!  Watchmen, watch! He’s coming in an hour when we do not expect him, like a thief in the night.

About Lift the Cross of Jesus!

My day job is writing--I'm an author and publisher of a number of books. More on that later. But there is nothing of greater importance to me than the early morning hours I spend with the Creator of the Universe. Although He knows everything there is to know, His greatest delight isn't to give us knowledge, but to give us love. My highest joy is to watch the sun rise with notebook in hand and write the words he speaks to my heart. I want to share some of those words with you here . . . words on the cross.

What a beautiful reminder, Hope! Thank you for sharing the truth–and the call!

  2. Becky, I honestly can hear you playing that guitar of yours and we all gather around to sing, “I’ll Fly Away, Oh, GLORY!” Here’s a funny story. As a teen our whole family lived in the slums so my parents could pastor the church next door to us. After a night of ministering to inner city people (with yours truly playing Andrae Crouch songs at the piano!) my dad and his volunteer helpers gathered back at the house around the piano. Somebody’d pull out the hymn book and we had the piano, guitars, mandolin, ukulele, banjo, and bass and rock the house with “I’ll Fly Away” and “Just a Closer Walk With Thee”. (The neighbors probably wished those country folks would indeed fly away!) I miss my father and his friends and realize that most of them have made their journey before me. So . . . when we get to heaven please find me. We’ll have to rally a room full of southern gospel instruments and rock God’s house together! I’d love to harmonize and you take the lead, Sister of Thunder!
