Except for the testimony of Jesus, this would be a pretty boring post! Haha! But Jesus always has a word, a thought, a testimony to encourage our hearts, doesn’t He? Here are a few small updates.
Several of you have asked about my mother and her progress. THANK YOU for your PRAYERS! I asked her earlier if I can share with you, and she gave me her permission. Mom was diagnosed in June with a cancerous tumor in her upper thigh. Her leg was swollen to her knee, and very painful. I recall her courage in Rehab. When she was required to very painfully stand up from her bed to the walker, she’d close her eyes and say, “Matthew, Mark, Luke and JOHN!” and up she’d go, wincing in pain. I recall her short stay (not short enough) at the pain management center at the local hospital. She comforted her worried visitors saying, “This, too, shall pass.” The song, “God and God Alone” rang in her heart during those brief days and I played it, on my cell phone, in her hospital room for her. Most beautiful of all was her quiet determination of faith and to do her part in the healing process. Her many friends visited and encouraged her and made meals for her and my sisters and I were honored to care for her during the summer months. I won’t go into elaborate medical details, but I will say that on September 2nd, the surgeons removed a tumor the size of a cantaloupe from her leg. The surgeon is pleased with her progress so far, and has given us all good news that the cancer cells are gone.
The year 2015 has kept me busy in editing and ghostwriting. For those who don’t know, I am blessed to lead an editorial team called Hope Editors (I know, original right?) and together we edit, ghostwrite, copyedit, proof, and provide interior design for books. We work for authors, publishers, medical organizations, and nonprofits. Our year started off with a BANG! I’ve personally been honored to edit and ghostwrite for publishers and authors this year as well as provide editing services such as manuscript reviews and book proposals for upcoming authors. If you have book inside you that just “hee-hawing” to get out, check out our website, www.HopeEditors.com.
Our youngest child, Judah, graduated high school in June. That means that after home schooling my children for ELEVEN years, I am finished! Whatever will I do with myself this year?
LAST UPDATE! I would be remiss not to testify of God’s wonders as I met with Him over this summer. One morning, I ventured outside and found myself singing praises in the darkness before dawn, my face lifted toward the stars above me. I felt someone–something–watching me . . . I looked over and underneath the tree, his head cocked to the side, he stood watching one of God’s children singing. Here’s what I wrote:
Stars melt away
Pale horizon gold
Paler still the blue above.
Man’s machines force their way
Oblivious to cooing dove.
Quietly approaches song.
Could this be a child of heaven?
Sons we’ve waited for so long?
Mother doe does not believe it,
She remembers being chased.
God will come and build a new world
Where her fears will be erased.
And so I sit here in creation,
Longing for a flawless earth.
Still, I seek eternal wisdom,
Notes of gold and words of worth.
Can I catch a glimpse of perfect?
Can I touch the breath divine?
Through the thorns and weeds and dryness,
Is there something here that’s mine?
I don’t share my most sacred moments at the Tree of Life to impress you. I hope to make you jealous to the point that you want the same thing so badly that you, too, will smile when your feet hit the floor tomorrow morning in anticipation of a word from God!
Tomorrow I will post a VERY EXCITING update! Look for that post. Some of you prayed over my friends going into China. Remember? They carried the solar iPod recordings of our Voice of Hope broadcasts, radio shows that are done every Friday (from my home office over the phone!) in English and Mandarin. I am so eager for you to hear this GOOD report! Stay tuned, OK?
