Work Now, for the Night is Coming

I am so excited to share with you the picture AND the Word from the Lord that was sent to me from Julie Walker, a prayer warrior and mother of missionary daughters. Will you join me and “see” what Julie saw?

boat cross Dolphin Bay Beach Thailand Julie WalkerWhile on a sunset walk at Dolphin Bay Beach, Thailand with my daughter Joy, I saw this fisherman’s boat in the moonlight with a silhouette of a cross. The Holy Spirit reminded me of Jesus’ words in John 9:4 that a night is coming when no one can do the Father’s work. Jesus left us with a sense of urgency to be about our Father’s business because Jesus is coming soon. He also left us followers with the Holy Spirit’s power to do His work until He comes.

On this National Day of Prayer for our nation, let us unite our hearts in prayer with other followers of Jesus to do His work on the sunset of His return.

Anne Graham Lotz shared her prayer for our nation on the first day of 2016. Let us join our hearts with her in praying for our nation.

“I know the night is coming when work for You will cease. Help me to redeem the time. Use me for your kingdom and your glory. Open my lips to boldly and fearlessly make known the gospel: the good news of redemption for the past….hope for the future….joy for the present regardless of circumstances….love that is unconditional, boundless, and eternal…found at the Cross. Open my lips to just give Jesus to a world that is increasingly desperate. Use me as an ambassador of peace on earth by first leading people to a right relationship with you, then with each other. When the world around me unravels, help me to stand strong on my faith in you. And when people see me standing strong, help them to see you.”  Prayer by Anne Graham Lotz

About Lift the Cross of Jesus!

My day job is writing--I'm an author and publisher of a number of books. More on that later. But there is nothing of greater importance to me than the early morning hours I spend with the Creator of the Universe. Although He knows everything there is to know, His greatest delight isn't to give us knowledge, but to give us love. My highest joy is to watch the sun rise with notebook in hand and write the words he speaks to my heart. I want to share some of those words with you here . . . words on the cross.

Thank you dear sister Hope for sharing this visual and word from the Lord. I want Him to continually remind me of the urgency and imminency of His return. There is work to be done and souls to be won. When Jesus comes, may He find us faithful.

    • Julie, your heart is on fire for His fire, for His harvest. Thank you for releasing this to our group. We love the message of the cross–even when it comes on a fishing boat in a sea that God made in another nation. Bless you.

What a picture! A fisherman’s boat in the moon light with a silhouette of a cross. Reminds me of your & Scott’s cross. Yes, work for the night is coming when no man can work. We must be about our Lord’s work! I love the prayer of Anne Lotz how true. I will have to make a paper copy.

Thanks for sharing your work, Hope. Thank you for your prayer of healing this evening.

    Blessings, Phyllis

    • Phyllis, what a gift you are to me! Yes, Julie (the guest author of the blog above) and I have set up lawn chairs in front of that cross in our backyard and prayed. I’d love for you to meet Julie and maybe we can all pray there sometime! It seems our neighbor always wants to mow his lawn (near our cross) each time we go out there to pray. I wonder what God is doing in his life? Thanks for chiming in, Phyllis.

    Amen!

I think night may be coming faster than anyone realizes and we will all need to be in close communion with our Lord.

    • David, that’s it EXACTLY! If we are in close communion with our Lord, then we will know what to do in any circumstance. God can lead us to people who are seeking for Him, or He can show us people in need. He can give us a new direction because we are close to His heart, listening, waiting for our next directive. He is coming SOON!

  5. I wonder if anyone else has seen a schedule change in their work this year? I’ve been speaking at writers conferences for about 14 years now. I’ve turned down these speaking opportunities this year. I feel God is leading me to concentrate this summer on getting the A to Z Bible stories for Chinese children written and prepared for publication this summer. (People don’t realize that a speaking engagement requires a lot of prep work as well as follow up later on, as new authors tap on your shoulder for help). I LOVE working with writers, both new and experienced! But this year there is this mandate–WORK FOR THE NIGHT IS COMING.

Did anyone else see a schedule change this year?

Please keep these books in prayer. I have no clue where we will go to find a publisher and distributor of children’s books in China.

Dearest daughter – The Lord has you right in the “cross hairs” of His purpose. Let not your heart be troubled – do not doubt – press on toward “The Goal”.
    God Bless and keep you.
